Post Product Review | Self-adhesive pit-lane concrete / tarmac from ScaleProduction

Hello fellow modelers,

I guess that many of you have thought "how the heck could I display my finished model
realistically, but without much effort and hassle?".

Well, there is a quick and simple solution now. Today I received the first
review samples of the new self adhesive pit-lane concrete / tarmac stickers for display boxes
from ScaleProduction. A long name, I know. If you come up with a shorter one,
please let me know.

There is a selection of several different surfaces. They are printed on self adhesive foil with a matte finish.
The details are outstandingly crisp. I suppose that the pictures have been taken at a "typical Ring-wheather" day,
because there are some nice and colorful oil stains on some of them.

Here are the different surfaces I reviewed:

Some of them are scaled to fit a standard 228 x 120 mm Schuco display box.

I would prefer them to be a little larger, in order to be able to mount them at an angle. upon request, Mike from SP told me that he'll adjust that for the final production version.

On to the practical review. All you need is a Schuco (or any other) display box, a sharp hobby knife and a metal ruler.

Trim the stickers to fit the bottom of the display box:

Do not peel off the backing completely! The foil is removable to an extend, but as you all know it's always better not to peel. Simply remove a strip of the pre-cut backing, align with the long edge of the display box and stick it on. Mine currently looks like that:

Add the model of your choice, srew it to the base if you like to have it secure for transportation...

...and clip the lid on. Done!

I think this is a nice addition to the SP line-up. Especially before model shows I tend to finish my models at the last minute. With these stickers they will be displayed nicely.

Note: I'll peel of the sample sticker and replace it with a larger one at an angle once they're available. There is no Info on pricing, yet. But I expect them to be at a good value-for-money ratio.

I'd like to know what you thnik about these. Please comment in the thread and not via PM. Thank you.

yes yes yes!!!

This is exactly what I have been looking for, excellent review!!!

I've done a lot of research into getting the right texture for roads/tarmac, from considering rough grades of sandpaper to roof shingles...

These are a much better option because they actually feature weathering and oil spills.... a well needed product!

Thumbs up Re: Product Review | Self-adhesive pit-lane concrete / tarmac from ScaleProduction

Hi Seb,

I also found these oversized stickers in my postbox. That was a surprise. Well done!!! Absolute usefull for presenting the models in our glas cases. I like these small gasoline spots on it. :-) I hope this will be a new regular product in Mike´s shop.....

Tschöö

Looks good, but am I missing something here? Can't you just print a picture and stick it to the base?

Depends just how good these look - if they are printed on a professional DP works printer the quality will be far better and more realistic than using a personal printer (and my printer is laser !!).

Well, of course you can print a photo and glue it to the base. That's what most moedelers have always done. Mike just had an idea and tried it. Everyone who's seen it in person was convinced instantly.

The sticker has a special matte finish that does look different than a photo and has a certain feel to it. Kind of hard to describe. And yes, they are printed with a professional printer.

Hope that helps?
