99 Sierra front drive shaft U-joint removal

How do you remove u-joints on front driveshaft on 4WD? I don't see any inner or outer locks.

Re: 99 Sierra front drive shaft U-joint removal

it will have either a nylon injected ring or external snap rings. If its nylon you will see a small round hole in the yoke that has some nylon coming out of the hole. the dealer has a special tool to shear the nylon but I have seen many people melt the nylon out will a torch. Don't cherry the yolk...heat it up enough for the nylon to flow out...let cool, then press the joint out.

the stink of the melted nylon will clear out the shop and your sinus passages.
