94 LaSabre AC Problem
I have a 94 LaSabre with ac air discharge problems. When first turned on eveything works just fine. After a few moments the air will move to the defrost vents and no matter what you do it will not move to any other position. Once the car is parked for a bit, it might or might not blow from vents. I have checked the vacumn and it is good. Any ideas? If it's the dash switches or vacumn manifold on the controler how do you get to it?Thanks for any responce.

Re: 94 LaSabre AC Problem
Could be the climate control unit itself. Mine had the same symptoms. Some times it would take a while and other times I would have the exact same experience as you're having. Got one from the junkyard for $12.
This is a link to my thread http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=954958. Don't no if you have the digital readout or the manuel one. But I would assume both are prone to failure. You would pass out if you knew the price on a new unit. $500+

Re: 94 LaSabre AC Problem
Quote:
Typical, if no vacuum lines cracks, is the vacuum connector ont he corner of the programmer box next to the heater box. http://www.imcool.com/articles/airco...acuum_line.php Some have used aquarium line to connect the tubes inside the programmer with those outside to just cut the multiconnector out of the picture. You can verify that the vacuum is adequate by starting motor then turning it off and leave the key ON. Immediately start switching between settings on the AC control. You'll hear the vacuum motors moving for heater on floor and bilevel and the recirculate (it takes about half a minute because of a porous plug in the line to slow its application and release). You can even take one of the other vacuum lines or run one from the motor and apply it to the blue line vacuum motor above the accelerator pedal. When that one applies, the floor diaphragm has to be closed to force air upward and then out the dash. |
