Rebuild Motor? Help Plz
I'm looking at a 1988 Camaro Iroc-Z with 175,000 miles on it, supposedly it's never broken down or had any problems with it. It has the original Motor in it, and actually looks and sounds pretty clean, and the owner has already taken it to the mechanic and it checked out fine in its state a few months ago. Knowing Camaros, would you suggest that the motor may need to be repaired sometime soon with this mileage, as well as the transmission? How good are Camaros if their engines are repaired? Thanks!

Re: Rebuilt transmission or rebuilt motor...?
IF the engine was previously well maintained, it should live for a while longer, while 175k miles is alot, I would have an honest mechanic run a compression test on it, and do an inspection. Overall thirdgen camaros are reliable cars, but you must remember its a 22 year old vehicle and you cannot expect it to run for another 100k miles with no issues.
