how to add A/C compressor oil?

I changed my A/C compressor today for my 2000 V6 Camry. The new compressor dosen't have any oil in it. How much should I add and how do I add it? The place I bought it from said to add 8oz and to take off 1 of the lines that connects to the compressor and pour it in.

Take the old compressor and drain the oil into a measured cup and see how much oil you get. Add roughly the same amount to the new compressor. Maybe a little more as you won't get all of the oil out of the old one.

Check the Toyota factory service manual stickied at the top of this forum's home page. The A/C section should give you that information. Here's the link to the manuals:

Re: how to add A/C compressor oil?

If you changed the evaporator, add 40-50 mL (1.4-1.7 oz) "ND - OIL 8".
If you changed the receiver, add 20 mL (0.71 oz) oil.
If you changed the condensor, add 40-50 mL (1.4-1.7 oz) oil.
The addition of oil is not necessary if you change the compressor. There is no significant hold-up of oil in the compressor.
