is Jiffy Lube OK for oil change on 740iL?

I'm tired of spending $100+ on oil changes for my 2001 740iL. Does using a Jiffy Lube -type service compromise the vehicle?

I wouldn't take a Geo Prism to Jiffy Lube...

DO NOT take it to Jiffy Lube. Trust me on this one. A Jiffy Lube oil change on my E46 325i cost about $400 bucks...

Re: is Jiffy Lube OK for oil change on 740iL?

Back in the 80's when Jiffy Lube started in business, I took my work truck there all the time. After watching their employees for a few months, I determined that I would NEVER take my personal cars there. Once I saw a "mechanic" at Jiffy Lube who couldn't even figure out how to change a wiper blade.....

Suggestion: do oil changes yourself or find a reliable indy. I'm lucky because a good friend of mine has his own repair shop -and he's just down the road from my house. He's great for the routine stuff. As a backup, I have a local shop who specializes on BMW repair. They'll get my business if/when I have a big problem. Their shop rate is half of the stealership and they can do any repair on my E39.

Re: is Jiffy Lube OK for oil change on 740iL?

A few years back my dad took his car there. They had over tightened the drain plug on the pan by so much that the plug could not be removed, even by impact. The repair was very expensive.

i dont think jiffy lube even has the scan tool to reset the oil miles counter. take it to someone who specializes on bmws. they use a european grade formula and the filters need to have o rings replaced from the kit with the filter. iv heard of jiffylubes just putting regular oil in bmws and causing premature issues because of this.
