01 300m clicking then no power

I have a 2001 300M that when I try and start the car it clicks then I have no power in the car what so ever. I replaced the battery and still happens. It starts sometimes but not always. When the car does this I can get under the hood and wiggle the positive wire at the jump block and the power will come back on. As soon as I try to restart it though it clicks again and then no power. Any suggestions?

Re: 01 300m clicking then no power

The very first thing you need to do is totally clean both jump terminals. Wire brush, sandpaper, whatever. Clean them well and when finished spray on some terminal protectant (readily available at any auto parts store).

Also, you may need to replace your battery terminals. If you were the one who changed out your battery you should have been able to see their condition. If you didn't do it, then you may need to check them out.

Do the jump terminals first and see as that won't cost you much. If that doesn't take care of it, then on to the battery terminals.

Also, you may have bad contacts in your starter. That's another issue after you determine if your electrical system is up to snuff. Easy to rectify, but a pita to get at.

Re: 01 300m clicking then no power

got it fixed. Replaced the positive terminal wire that runs from the jump block to the starter. After pulling it out I stripped the wire and it was all green. Dont know how this happened but it probably didnt need the battery then cause it was doing this before i replaced it. I did clean the terminals and all but the corrosion was inside the insulation of the wire.
