1/16 California Charger dragster
This kit is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. I've always wanted to build one but never had the $$, now thanks to Ebay and a grant of cash from the wife I've got the chance to build one.
![]() My usual builds have wings and things so I'm trying to stretch myself and keep the rail nice and clean. Keeping to the kits instructions I've started on the motor. The chrome parts have a lot of flash on them so I striped them with bleach and then tried out Alclad II chrome. ![]() In the future I need to work harder on removing all the scratches from the part before spraying the Alclad. The valve covers are nice and shiny but could be better. The headers need stripping and a lot of cleaning up/hollowing out before a coat of Alclad aluminium. I'm pretty sure that the distributor for this engine should be moved to the rear. Something like this. ![]() But if I do this then I will interfere with the fuel distribution block which seems to just hover in thin air. ![]() If anyone knows about these things could explain how they all work I would very much appreciate it. I'm in very murky waters here with just enough knowledge to get myself thoroughly confused. So any light you might be able to shine on this would really help out. I will have to replace the fuel lines just under the scoop but I'm not too sure how they all go together. On another matter while the kit decals look pretty good are the Slixx replacements worth while? I've also seen that there are resin replacement body panels. Are then any good, or are the kit parts okay. Thanks for taking the time to have a look at my efforts. With a bit of luck it will slowly begin to come together. Dan |
