he said i needed a dual mass flywheel? whaT!? everyone on the internet told me single was fine

pull style clutch, The "sticker" fly wheel (spine) (pop outside) side goes to the flywheel. Are we doing something wrong here?

If the clutch doesn't engage, I'm assuming it hasn't been driven and is still at the shop? Or atleast parked outside the shop or something? Id take it back and make him fix it. I might suggest making a video that the car won't engage. In case you have to take him to court, with a receipt for the work he supposely did and a video showing what isn't working, you should be able to either get your money back or make him fix it.

Re: Mechanic charged me for $400 and my car wont even work.

A letter to the BBB and the local chamber of commerce helps, too.

If he has a warranty, then he should honor it. If not, let him know that he needs to fix it or you can have it repaired by another shop and then sue him in small-claims court for the cost plus any rental fees due to negligence. But if he put the single-mass clutch in as you told him instead of the needed dual, then he has a leg to stand on against you. I would have gone to a different shop for a second opinion on this setup if this were an issue. Good luck!
