Where do Montrealers go?
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone on this board is from the Montreal area, and if so, knows of a LHS that stocks detailing accessories (i.e. Acu Stion, Sakatsu and the like) as well as a good selection of tools and materials. Cheers |

Re: Where do Montrealers go?
Hi!
I'm from East Montreal! Do you know about Udisco ? They have a lot of stuff (tools and kits)! If you have a car and can go on the Thaschereault Boulevard at La Prairie, there is Collection Modélisme: not as big as the Udisco but there are many greats stuffs. There is Le Tambourin at Longueuil, Brossard and St-Bruno: a bit expensive, not the greatest variety of tools but it's alright for me! I hope it helps! |

Re: Where do Montrealers go?
I've been to Udisco a couple of times, but I have never been able to find detailing accessories.
Are they in a specific location in the place? |

Re: Where do Montrealers go?
I'll be in Montreal in June for F1 so hopefully I will have time to check out Udisco, I thought it was just a warehouse. Is there anywhere else that is a "must see"

Re: Where do Montrealers go?
mike, Udisco is, as far as I know, the biggest but not sure what else would be a 'must'. It is a warehouse (huge) but sells to the public. All the other places I know are your run of the mill LHS. Many cater mostly to model railroading.
If you've never been here for the GP, prepare to have a great time. The atmosphere in the city is just awesome. Where are you from? |

Re: Where do Montrealers go?
Don't be too excited. Udisco only carry usual stuff. Don't expect to see something you never seen or any special things.
just take a look there: http://www.udisco.com/hobbies/index.htm Price are also on the high side. Tamiya Enzo at 58$ ! better get it on modelexpress for 10$ less. And don't forget, they will charge you 15% taxes here.

Re: Where do Montrealers go?
Udisco is good if your only looking for kits and tools. But they don't have wheels , detail parts or any aftermarket stuff, but it's a big place.
P.s The Grand Prix weekend will be real nice this year since its also the ''St-Jean Baptiste'' on june 24 th(our ''4th of july'') and montrealers and Quebecers are known to party a lot on that day. I can already imagine how crazy it will be in Dowtown . |

Re: Where do Montrealers go?
no , i'm afraid it is nearly impossible to find a store that carries any detail sets in the whole Quebec...

I was thinking about starting a web-store for that in Canada, but I need a bit more investment before starting.

Re: Where do Montrealers go?
Whatever you do do not go to Udisco in Montreal. Its honestly the worst place I've ever heard of or seen. It's a huge waste of your time and your money. They really don't deserve to get customers let alone be still opened for business. If I could have rated them on this site I would have given them 0 on 10 for TERRIBLE!! But there are many other hobby stores around thats for sure
