1987 Honda Prelude 2.0si fuel injection engine... drive axel broke from tranny...

I have a 1987 Honda Prelude 2.0si... Recently the whole drive axle on passenger side came apart.. or may I say broke away from the transmission. I am not a mechanic...Nor do I know the technical names of all the parts that are messed up.. So I will only tell you what Ive seen to give you a mental picture of the problem... with the hood up.. and looking at the engine compartment over the passenger front fender.. I noticed that there is a drive shaft that connects to the front wheel is no longer affixed to the transmission. There is grease around and on the outer surface where the shaft used to be connected to the transmission... I see what appear to be a shaft with four prongs loose and is hanging just below where it is supposed to be attached... Can this be repaired???
