Low speed clunk or popping from the front end

I have a 05 STi, my car does the same thing while I'm turning into a parking spot at low speeds either direction the vehicle makes a clicking noise and you can feel it through the floor boards of the car. It sounds to me like a CV shaft. I raised the car in the air on my hoist and the clicking is gone. Boots are not torn and do not show any signs grease has escaped. The clicking noise seems to be coming from the drivers front side. I pulled the axle and rotated it by hand to feel for anything out of ordianary. I felt something... very small but something. I replaced the axle with a genuine subaru axle... I test drove the car, it doesn't take much... It did not fix the issue. I had the local subaru dealership look up and make sure both axles are the same from side to side which they are. I took the orginal drivers side front axle and swapped it in the passenger side. The noise still remains. I will be tomorrow using our scope and will let you know... I'm suspecting diff. issues.
