2003 protege

started sputtering and wanting to stall nad Check enging light so i changed my egr cleaned any carbon i could find but now the check engine light is gone but the car sputters and rpms go u pand down and the nshe stalls withing 20 seconds. any sugestions would be a great help as im all out of them.

I had a similar problem ant replacing the EGR valve solved it.

This problem is identical to the one experienced by my 03 Protege LX. Twice had the EGR valve replaced after sputtering and check engine light. Then the 3rd time was sputtering but no check engine light, Had the garage change the EGR valve to a different type (Part # FSY1-18-W00 if you google that). Essentially it now has coolant tubes attached to it. Since the change, the car has been rock solid.
