Porsche 911T - Fujimi Enthusiast kit

Hello all,

This model was finished a few years ago, & it holds a special place in my heart. I was just clearing out my photobucket account & found these pics so I thought you may like to see them. It was built a couple of years ago for a charity auction on the DDK forum (a forum for full size pre 1974 Porsches). A member on there had recently lost a friend through cancer (as had I) and so he decided to auction his full size tarmac rally prepared 911T with all proceeds going to the Macmillan cancer care charity. My son said to me why didn't I build a model of the real thing & also auction it on the board! Well, with the board owners permission I did just that, & although it didn't make as much as the real one, it did make over £120, so I was well pleased! The model was backdated from a Fujimi 911S & I had to narrow the front & rear arches, & also the wheels & tyres which were much narrower on the real car. Apart from the fire extinquisher, the rally equipment in the interior was scratchbuilt with harnesses from lead foil with p.e. buckles & the navigators footrest was from a Chinese takeaway container!

Anyway, I hope you like her!

All the best

Keef

PS sorry about the quality of the photos, they were taken with my old camera.

Looks excellent! You made a great job of reducing the size of the wheel arches and the tyres, very convincing result! The Chinese take away container metal was a nice idea too!

It looks good! I was wondering if you had used foil on the window surrounds (it looks like you did). How did that go on?

Re: Porsche 911T - Fujimi Enthusiast kit

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated!

@ HebeDave - yes, I used baremetal chrome foil on the window surrounds & it was a nightmare, probably the worst part of the build. I think it was basically because there was so little area for the adhesive to work on it kept lifting, so I would have to keep going back over areas already done & try to stick them back down (neatly!) with superglue! So it took ages & really tried my patience, but we got there in the end! But I think my next early 911 will have the surrounds sprayed in alclad chrome!

Cheers

Keef

Re: Porsche 911T - Fujimi Enthusiast kit

I think the windows turned out really good. I've done a few of the enthusiast Fujimi kits and I think it's great that they put all the extra detail parts in (pistons for inside the cylinder heads... really...) but they can be pretty tricky to get all together. I've got more than one that didn't get finished. ha

Thanks for the response, Keef. I agree though, I think I'll try and mask and spray my next window trim.

Looks fantastic! Always preferred the shape of the earliest 911s like this one

Microscale Industries (they make Micro Kristal Clear Glue) produce Bare Metal Foil adhesive. I used this successfully with black BMF which did not want to stick very well. You could try this option next time, it would be a bit less fraught than using superglue as you can simply wipe off any residue!

Good idea! But I think I'll probably try Alclad chrome on the next one (whenever that may be!) & see how that goes!

Cheers
