Cone killing this weekend...

Went to another event to play around with some cones...

My best run, I somehow shaved over a second off my best time in my understeering monster, but a cone committed suicide on me and dove under the car and killed my one 'clean' run (in my mind):

Here's a run later on... with my buddy and his girl ridding passenger:

Slower run, but clean... Track surface was UBER slippery, my street tires were not happy on the oily asphalt. Oh well, can't win them all...

This is what it's supposed to look like... done by one of the bests, my good friend and mentor... 11 time National Autocross champion Mary Pozzi:

Car specs:
'73 Camaro
383 GM Crate engine
Mods: nothing much
Richmond 5-speed.
Hotchkis suspension
Kumho Tires, 275F 295R
18" Forgeline Wheels
Limited Slip, I forget her rear gear ratio...

Just your basic bolt-ons, but she and her husband are expert suspension tuners. They know their shizz.

So that garmin on the dash...was it so you would not get lost on the autox track?

sorry could not help but start off with a smartass remark

Anyway good run, unfortunately it seem to be the type of low speed sharp turn setup that would favor short-wheelbase/light cars....so not the best match for your car

Re: Cone killing this weekend...

Ha, that in car video was done on the second day... where I put my GPS back up, first day I took it down. Yeah, track was super tight... tighter than Goodguys normally does it. And the area they put us on was a really oily asphalt parking lot... day 1 was like being on ice. Nothing hooked up. Took tight for the Piggy Pontiac that's for sure.

Was so tight/slippery it was hard to get the front to grip so I could rotate the rear with a dab of power over... Was fighting understeer the entire weekend. FTL.

Re: Cone killing this weekend...

could try over-inflating the rears to reduce their traction, that should help rotate the car a bit more natural

oh and in the corners make sure to floor it and yell powahhhh....works for Clarkson

Re: Cone killing this weekend...

I played with tire pressures a bit, the surface was so garbage it wasn't helping much. Was overall, not my weekend haha.

Re: Cone killing this weekend...

Just watched the videos. Digging the second one's soundtrack. That course looks a bit shorter than the one I got to do for the G8 GT training event I had. Course it also had a "drift corner". Looks like fun out there.
