1996 Lincoln

Help! My 1996 Lincoln (Spinaker Edition) power windows, seats, trunk switch, won't operate. My moon roof operates. My unlock switch, everything on the drivers door won't operate. Have checked fuses. What next? Thanks for any reply.

Just the drivers door controls or total loss of function from anywhere?

Thanks for replying. No other window will roll down. The electric seats will not work. I can't adjust mirrors, nothing. The trunk latch button won't work, either. No electrical functions on the driver, passenger, or rear doors.

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that every door you sit next to and use those switches (on all four doors) has the same problem, everyrthing is dead.

With this, you need to open the hood, look for the Power Distribution Box, open that box cover and inspect / replace any blown fuses there too.

Re: 1996 Lincoln

OK. Checked the fuses in box. None blown. Checked fuses under dash, none blown. If it makes a difference in your diagnostics, let me repeat the symptons: No power to roll down windows, no power to unlock trunk, no power to adjust seats or mirrors, no power to lock and unlock doors. Basicly no power in driver, passenger, or rear doors. Sometimes when you put on brakes to stop, the interior lights come on, then when you accelerate to go, they go off. Any clue? Thanks for all your replies.

Re: 1996 Lincoln

Well.. I'm stumped.. I'll study up a bit more. If it's not the fuses.. a portion of your wire harness may be damaged, disconnected, corroded, etc.

Be absolutely sure the following tests good.. also, remove the fuses I'm showing below and inspect the fuse blades for anything that would prevent good connection, TEST the fuse, inspect the fuse holder before inserting the fuse.

On the power distribution box pull, inspect and test #9 and #10. Both are orange 40 amps.
#9 powers DDM (driver door module) + LH windows + all door loocks (via internal fuse box).
#10 powers RH windows.

On the internal fuse box pull, inspect and test #39 red 10 amp and #41 yellow 20 amp.
#39 powers DSM (driver seat module) logic + DDM (drivers door module) logic + door lock switches + keyless entry keypad (switch) + memory set switch + driver seat switch + power mirror switch.
#41 powers DDM (drivers door module) door locks.
