288 GTO in Gulf livery

I just bought a 1/24 Ferrari 288 GTO in Gulf livery, but I can't find any reference on this particular car, anyone can help?

This car never existed in real life. Its a made-up by Fujimi.

Re: 288 GTO in Gulf livery

When this was initially announced we all came to that conclusion. The only thing I ever found was a few images from a video game, which I'm guessing is where Fujimi got the idea.
Otherwise, as 360spider said, it is made up. Probably trying to get more money out of the tooling than anything else.

Has Gulf ever sponsored Ferrari? Didnt Enzo make deals in the early days with Shell & theyve never parted ways. Hence the Vpower ads... Cmon Fujimi dont you watch TV. I can see why they did it though,

While not the most obvious Ferrari livery, there have been privateer Ferraris in Gulf colours, most notable a 308. More recently there has also been an F430 GT2, but I don't think a Ferrari works team has ever been sponsored by Gulf.

As for the 288 in question, yes, it's a phantom racer, but that hasn't prevented me from buying one because I think it'll look very cool once completed.

Re: 288 GTO in Gulf livery

Thanks for all your comments!
The Gulf 288 is quite eye catching, as I have never seen a Ferrari in such a colour. Other than the additional decal sheet, it is I believe identifcal to a standard 288 GTO kit and I really mean "standard" without any P/F parts! But it sells 30% more than the standard kit, the decal is really worth something (not even catagraph). Otherwise, the kit is fine except they didbn't provide the orange decal for the underside of the car; that means you have to mix the colour to match the orange strips on the decal.

Geez... that F430 GT2 graphic scheme seems way too half @$$ed. The least they could have done was paint the entire car Gulf blue or at least choose another color that matched better than the stock red. It looks way too weird.

Re: 288 GTO in Gulf livery

In fact a similar car does exist... it a 308 GTB modified by an italian specialist called Michelotto. It is not a 288 GTO but fujimi guys did not took enough information before issuing the kit...

Re: 288 GTO in Gulf livery

I really donīt like what Fujimi did there. The only thing interesting on this kit are the wheels. And itīs a way to get gulf-decals - an expensive way though.

I have an idea for Fujimi: Why donīt you offer a random and arbitrary sportscar-kits with nice racing liveries from the past. Iīd surely know where they would have this idea from... The way our fellow modelers on AF in the famous Cayman-thread take up such a delicate issue is much more convincing!

The only thing interesting on this kit are the wheels? As I said this a standard 288GTO kit, therefore the same set of wheels are supplied, except on the box the wheel center are painted in black.
