Auto trans axle seal

I have to replace the front drivers side axle seal on my 2002 implala auto trans , what is the easiest way to do this with out a lift, i cant remeber if is is easiest to split ball joint and swing axle out of the way and then remove the seal. Anu have any ideas. Thanks

Welcome to AF, yes the axle comes out and yes remove the tie rod from the knuckle and the lower ball joint to swing the knuckle out of the way.
