This is the first time I'm replacing the rear speakers in one of my vehicles and I don't know how to get to them. I have a '94 Concorde without Infinity system and I can see in the trunk there are the two speakers hanging down with the appropriate connector. But how in the world do you get the top piece off so I can unscrew them and put in my new ones? I don't want to destroy my vehicle's interior and I want it to look good...can somebody PLEASE help me on where to unscrew, or where to pop out parts of the seat or whatever so I can get to the rear speakers?? THANKS A TON!!!

For anybody who is trying to get to the back speakers in the older-style Concordes:
First I must confess that I have never actually done this. I've bought a bunch of speakers from Crutchfield in the past for my '94 and have done everything to it except change the back 6x9's. But when you order speakers from them, they send you a packet with instructions on how to change out ALL the speakers. So here comes my best recollection... First of all, you are supposed to remove the bottom bolts on the rear seatbelts (you'll need one of those funky star-shaped drivers). I believe these are hidden behind the bottom part of the seat backs. You may have to remove the seat bottom to make this easier (there are two bolts visible underneath the front side of the seat bottom). You should then be able to figure out how to remove the seat back, because I think that's necessary before you can lift up the rear deck (the carpeted piece of particle board with the speaker grills on it). Once you have the rear deck loose, you should be able to reach the 6x9's. As for the other speakers, if you're ever interested, it is much easier. **What follows is for the Infinity system and may not hold for the standard audio system. The metal grills on the 5.25" door speakers pry off if you stick a crowbar in the front edge (closest to engine). To access the 3.5" dash speakers, you need to CAREFULLY pry up the hard plastic forward part of the dash. I always like to slide it as far forward as possible and then stick a paint scraper or flathead underneath the part where the vinyl part of the dash meets the hard plastic. It's a trick to get the hard plastic back into place once you pry it up, however. I've always had a problem with that... If anyone else has any more audio questions about the earlier generation of Concordes, let me know. I've done about all there is to do. Cheers. |

Re: How to get to rear speakers?!?!
If your 94 is anything like my 96 then your top piece should be a metal rectangular mesh material covering the speakers. Along the base of the mesh there are 4 clips that you can gently bend inward with a flat head screw driver to release 2 of the 4 clips and then the mesh lifts right up giving you access to the 4 screws holding each of the speakers. If necessary rebend the mesh appropriately and snap back over speakers.

Re: How to get to rear speakers?!?!
i am about to do the rear swap on my 97, it says in the service manual, to remove the lower door sills(2 screws), then remove the upper quarter panel(just pops off) and remove the lower quarter panel next to the seats(2 more screws, good luck with these by yourself, you have to either crush the seat foam in to get a screwdriver in there or remove the seat may be easier) then you can pop off the rear deck and access the speakers, you dont need to remove the belts.

Re: How to get to rear speakers?!?!
i found to replace them the best way to start is 2 pop off the headrest to the baby seat (if you had one) and then you should be able to reach the back seat bolts to get to the clips that hold the rear deck in place.
