Anyone heard of Hydrographics?
I came across this website while searching the other week, and found to my surprise that somebody actually makes a "kit" to do liquid printing at home!
I'd heard of the process before - it's been featured on American Chopper, and I've seen very cool cars with dipped parts (search for the FB Lug supra.. it had purple carbon fibre engine accents which looked AMAZING).. but I hadn't ever heard of a kit before. http://www.mydipkit.com I ordered a carbon fibre dip kit, and I have dipped a few parts.. they are drying right now after clear coat (which is provided in the kit!) and then I will post some pictures. Basically it allows you to print whichever pattern you buy (they have a BUNCH of patterns) on any plastic, metal, fiberglass, etc part you want. And it's film layed on water, so it stretches and flows around stuff, you can dip any 3 dimensional part you want. Carbon fibre rearview mirrors, shift knobs, interior parts, door handles, etc. I've figured out the process pretty well, and I'm actually excited to start tastefully re-doing my interior. Just wanted to see what somebody else thought of it. ![]() Cheers! Jon. |
