Intrigue 99 3.5L Engine Misfire Code P0300

Hi to all:

I am new in the forum. Thanks to every one for the great job of helping others.

Mi Intrigue 99 3.5L is 190K and is not runing well. I am getting an Engine Misfire Code P0300. The SES light first blinks for a while an then stays steady. I have changed the gas filter & the spark plugs. But nothing yet. If the car is in Park and you step on the gas and leave it pressed, the engine will go up about 4000 rpm and then back to 3800 and up to 4000 and back to 3800 and up to .... When you are driving on the highway and the rpm has to go up to 4000 rpm or more due to a hill or resistance, you can feel the transmision switching gears up and down too, till the resistance or hill is over. Any help will be really apreciated. If this has happened to anyone before, please help me! I am unable to find a repair manual for the intrigue 1999 with 3.5L engine.

I cant find the electric diagram either. Some lights on the controls dont lite but they do the function. (A/C light does not lite but A/C works, Air circulation lights dont lite but the Air circulation can be controled by the buttons). The outside temp is not right, I need the diagram to check the wires to find the one broken on the sensor. Any help in this will be really apreciated.

This is a list of things I have also made to the car since I have it. Transmision oil flush and change, air filter and oil and filter changed.

Regards and thanks!

When you start the car how does it idle, which bank do you think has a misfire? It could be the Ignition Coil Pack which is a 3 in 1 design which I don't like but they still are superior to wires. Check your Battery voltage make sure its around 12 and above 14 when running check/clean the battery terminals. Look for any damaged or loose connections.

Clean the MAF and check your compression.

You can get factory service manuals off of Ebay. Some are pretty reasonable. The exterior temp sensor is located forward of the radiator, looks like this:

You can get em at Autozone.

Wow you really think thats a possibility hell maybe it is.

I never did a compression test on my car but its a good idea since he has 190K, also clean that MAF 4000-3800rpm at idle but how does the engine feel when you drive or did you buy the car this way?

It starts OK, Idle at about 800rpm. I havent mesure the battery but I am sure is Ok too. Will look for loose conections.

Thanks a lot! Will get back to you...

Sorry, do you know what is the resistance for the sensor for any known temperature, so I can mesure the sensor and make sure it is not working?

Thanks a lot!!!

Yes, I bought the car like that. When I go under 4000rpm at any gear, the car is OK. But if for any reason it needs to go close to 4000rpm it will act weird, as I explained in my post.

Thanks a lot...

I found that the LEDs that lite the controls were burnout. I replace them with new ones and all the lights are ok now!!!

Hi,

I am back again. The car is still the same! But now I am able to tell you that the car is doing 13 or 15 MPG only. What can I check to find out where the problem is?

Regards, Tomas

What is your fuel pressure like? If its cutting out at high rpms it could very well be a fuel pressure issue.

There are several different sensors that effect how the engine runs, but since none of them are throwing codes, it would really just be a crapshoot. I keep wanting to suggest the Throttle Position Sensor, but thats only because you mention it feels like its shifting gears randomly.

There is a Chiltons repair manual available for the Intrigue. It shouldnt be hard to find online, thats where I had to get mine from.
