Re: 93 ford sho cranks no start and cant pop cluch to start

So the starter motor turns the engine over but the engine doesn't start? If that's the case, popping the clutch isn't going to get it going either unless the problem is a loose connection somewhere that gets jolted when the clutch is popped.

The right way to approach this problem would be to determine what you don't have, correct air/fuel mixture, spark, or compression. The Yamaha V6 is pretty robust so I wouldn't start by checking compression. If you have a can of throttle body cleaner (that is safe for modern coated throttle bodies) you could try spraying some in to the throttle body while the engine is cranked to see if the engine tries to start. If so, the problem is likely weak fuel pressure or bad fuel. Based on the age of your car the fuel pump may be weak if you have low pressure.

If that doesn't seem to be the culprit, then find a spark tester (Harbor Freight sells these for a couple of bucks) and see if you have spark. If you do not have spark one rather common problem for this engine is the Crankshaft Position Sensor. If you're paying to have this replaced at a shop you might plan on spending about $600 and having the timing belt and tensioner pulley replaced as well. If the CKP sensor failed due to coolant leaking on it then have the water pump replaced as well.
