Talking 93 civic sedan

hey everyone....this is my first post in the honda section...i usually post in the alero section...i just bought a 93 civic sedan the body has 433 k's and a newer d16 engine with 260 k's....it has a catback exhaust and a magnaflow muffler, now, what would make the engine run rich?, or what would cause a foul smell to come from the car as it is running...thanks in anticipation for any ideas....

Re: 93 civic sedan

i think maybe you have bad valve seating. and after it warms up its less noticable, expantion happens.. the richness is probablly coming from the computer doing its job in compensating for the difference. the foul smell is gas and oil burning..when your in gear slowing and step on, not shifting, slowing again, and step on it again, does it smoke then??

Re: 93 civic sedan

Try some Engine Restore, a dark blue oil-like additive; comes in a silver can, you pour it into the oil fill.
