Exhaust system.....

Well the GTP is coming together....

Finally got the weird suspension issues fixed it seems, after an alignment I will be good to go there. Only other thing I have is a power steering whine I cant get to go away. This would be the 3rd pump I have tried, air is bled out, new delco lines, and new rack. Fluid is full and doesn't leak, and is not being aerated, so I don't exactly know what is happening. But that is besides the point....

Next thing I want to do is to get an exhaust shop to fix my exhaust leak(s).

I crawled under there today and in all actutality, being a MN salt car, the exhaust system actually isn't in too bad of shape. The resonator is coming apart right at the weld causing the noisy leaks. The mufflers and rest of the system is in decent shape for being 10+ years old.

I was hoping someone somewhere might have an exhaust clip of an L67 motor with stock valve train running stock mufflers with the resonator deleted. I am trying to decide if I want to delete my resonator or if I should install a new one.

A friend of mine has a used ZZP whisper resonator he will sell me for 30 bucks and I might low ball him down to 20. I guess it is in good shape with no rust and only ran a short time.

Problem is I would like a little rumble, but nothing obnoxious. (I have elderly neighbors, one of which already asked if I changed the exhaust on my car) "Ahh, no, I think it has a hole"...

At the same time I get the resonator fixed I was thinking about having the exhaust shop install these..... I think they look nice.

Comments? Suggestions?

Re: Exhaust system.....

I got rid of the resonator on mine and don't regret it. I have hi-flow mufflers too and the sound is a nice deep rumble. It's not like my Camaro by any means, but it definitely doesn't sound like a ricer.

I guess this answers my queston....

Without the resonator it will be too loud and raspy for the old folks. I better shell out the cash to my buddy and keep the resonator in there.

Re: Exhaust system.....

Wow, his exhaust sounds like garbage. Mine doesn't sound like that at all. Mine is much deeper, but probably is a tad louder.

Re: Exhaust system.....

HAHA yeah! Thats what I thought about his too, I really didn't want mine to sound like that but that is what my system would be set up like so.....

Matt, did you like them tips I found on Ebay? I think they might look good on my car.

Any luck finding a PCM?

Re: Exhaust system.....

Yeah, those tips are nice and when installed you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between our two exhausts. And if you keep your resonator, your exhaust won't sound like that guy's on that video. Do resonators restrict the exhaust at all?

No luck with the PCM yet. I've had to divert my attention from the car a little until we close on the sale of our house. Then for two weeks I will be completely broke. Once I recover a little from that blow, I can resume with where I left off. So if you do see one that is compatible with my car, let me know.
