water pump replacement

01 3.9 2wd am replacing water pump. any tip or tricks/shortcuts that I can use? HAVE RENTED a tool from autozone for holding fan while removing BIG nut but did not come with info any help on how it works would be appreciated

One of the large wrenches goes over the four bolts with nuts on them. The other wrench goes on the fan base. I usually block the large wrench and use a large fiberglass mallet and smack the wrench on the fan base. They are normally tight and not easy to remove.

a good tool to use even though it sounds rough is an air hammer with pointed bit installed in tool.lightly place the tip on the edge of the nut and hammer quickly.note:it is left hand threads turn nut clockwise to loosen good luck.

Go counter clock wise not clock wise than you can take it off. If your smart put an electric fan on the radiator it will save alot of money since the weakest point is that fan on the water pump since it has only one bearing. Good luck,
