1997 Golf

My 1997 Golf K2 2.0 4 cyl. 5 speed manual; sudden onset bad misfire/almost a dead short in and out while driving: inital codes were cam sensor, misfire #2. I have replaced the wires, plugs, rotor, distributor, crank sensor coil, 02 sensors, and coolant temperature sensor. Nothing has helped, still exactly the same. Any suggestions before I replace the main computer?? It has no cam sensor, why giving me a cam sensor code?

Re: 1997 Golf

It could be giving you false readings to due a bad sending unit. It happens. If your car's having problems and you've replaced that much stuff without it fixing the problem, I'd say it's time to take your car to your trusted local mechanic before you sink your life savings into that car.
