Did you check every fuse in all three places?

Re: 93 Lesabre electrical??
Does the lighter work? If not then you probably missed a blown fuse.

Re: 93 Lesabre electrical??
Does anyone know if it could possibly be the ignition switch causing these problems?

Re: 93 Lesabre electrical??
Which fan isn't working, HVAC or radiator? What else isn't working? More info will help locate the problem.

Re: 93 Lesabre electrical??
You might have a problem with the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). If the computer thinks the car is moving above a certain speed then it'll turn the fans off because enough air is already flowing through the radiator. I'm guessing the tranny won't downshift if the computer thinks the car is moving too fast. Does the speedometer work?

Re: 93 Lesabre electrical??
The cigarette lighter has power all the time from Fuse 11 in the main fuse box under the dash on the left of the driver seat.
The radiator fans get power from Fuse 16 in the main fuse box, and also Fuse 4 in the under hood fuse area. They power goes through a high speed coolant fan relay, and a low speed coolant fan relay. It also goes through two coolant fan resistors on its way to the right hand coolant fan motor. The low speed coolant fan relay is the one all the way to the right of your eight relays under the underhood fuses. The high speed coolant fan relay is the relay second to the right. The easiest way to test these I think is to swap in known good relays (from further to the left for example.) To get the relays out, push a flat-head screwdriver under the relays but above the metal piece below the relay about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch in and push down (there is a tab that has to move out of the way in order for the relays to slide forward and out.) If these check out okay, try jumping power to your fans and see if they operate. |

Re: 93 Lesabre electrical??
As for the speed sensor thing, the fans don't start when key is on,or at driving around, the tranny acts like it slipps, and tranny was fine before bolt fell in lighter socket.

Re: 93 Lesabre electrical??
You didn't mention if the speedo works. I think they were electronic (not cable driven) in 93.
