2002 Windstar Idles low but AC causes it to cut off
Let me start by saying I know nothing about cars really so please take that into consideration if you reply. I have had the plugs and wires replaced and a new fuel filter put in, new battery as well. It idles low and feel like it is struggling for power when you drive sometimes. It has occasionally cut off while turning which has obviously been a concern but it doesn't happen often. Running the AC has caused it to cut off repeatedly while driving. I don't know what to do because I'm broke and can't afford to shell out hundreds to thousands off bucks to get it fixed. Check engine light is on and I had the codes read which said multiple misfires on the plugs and O2 sensor. Any and all help will be welcome, I'm going to get a manual and praying its a do it yourself kind of thing. I know I said I know nothing about cars but I follow directions well.

Re: 2002 Windstar Idles low but AC causes it to cut off
One thing that seems to be more common on newer windstars, such as yours, is the Coil pack.
This is the block that the other end of all the spark plugs plug into. It is near the firewall.....driver's side. HOWEVER, what is very common is a sticking Idle Air Control Valve (IAC). When your foot is not on the accellerator, the PCM (computer that controls the motor) controls the idle by operating the IAC.......sort of a computer controlled accellerator. The IAC has a motor inside that opens and closes a valve that lets more or less air into the motor. The IAC is mounted on the Throttle body..... If the IAC is sticking.....then when your foot is not on the accellerator, and the load on the engine suddenly increases......like when the A/C compressor comes on......or you turn the steering wheel (parking lot manuvers).......the engine will stall. This link takes you to a picture that shows the IAC on top of the throttle body of my '96 Windstar. Yours should be similar http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2694...11220610VszMOd What I would recommend that you do.....as this is cheap and easy....as well as a very likely cause of your problem (particularly if it takes place when you take your foot off of the accellerator). Remove the IAC (2 small bolts and 1 electrical connector). Use a can of something like WD-40 (Seafoam Deep Creep would be ideal)....... Hold the IAC so that you can spray into the insides of it.....and the fluid from the spray will run out. Spray the fluid inside the IAC........flushing it out really good. Re-install the IAC and plug the electrical connector back in.

Re: 2002 Windstar Idles low but AC causes it to cut off
Thanks for your help Wiswind, I am going to get my repair guide and will give it a try this weekend barring any rain, but I have to clean my garage up anyway so I should still be able to get it done. I will reply back to let you know how it goes.
