Grand Am GT, Ram Air or Cold Air?

Just bought a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT. It's supposed to have the Ram Air but the previous owner swapped it out for a cold air intake (long metal pipe that runs down into the front fender near the tire. But he left all the original intake plumbing in the trunk.

I don't know much about air intakes, so am I really getting any benefit from the cold air intake that he installed (has a K&N filter on the end) or should I just put the Ram Air back and just buy a K&N filter for it?

I'm actually not all that interested in boosting power as the car already has plenty for me. I'm more interested in fuel economy. And it definitely has more power than my old car (Mustang 4 cylinder)

I don't think you will see much difference with the ram air than the intake you currently have. Both introduce cold air into the engine. If the car is running well then I would just leave it as it is.
