test drove 99 astro, no reverse

i looked at a 99 astro awd with 60k, price is cheap, van has no reverse, but seems foward gears worked fine, only got it up to about 30mph on test drive and seemed ok, any suggestions? thanks joe

Yes, try to get it past 30mph. You will probably find that 3rd or 4th gear (can't remember which it is) are gone also. It's a common issue with these transmissions and can be fixed with a rebuild and a new "updated" sun reaction shell.
