HELP 99 Intrigue Pulsating
When the car is at a stop it pulsates very hard when gas is given. The car is in gear and if you let it ease into the acceleration it mildly does it. If you attempt to accelerate normally it is a very rough pulsation. I just had a Hub Bearing replaced and I've read where these symptoms sound like a bad ABS wheel speed sensor, but I don't know. I'm guessing that the pulsation is either the ABS engaging at stops or the tranny has some weird issue.

Re: HELP 99 Intrigue Pulsating
Are the Service Engine Soon, Service Vehicle Soon, or any other dash warning lights on?

Re: HELP 99 Intrigue Pulsating
Bad wheel sensor would set a light. Do they come on when you start the vehicle?
Might be a plugged fuel filter causing a misgire, but a misfire that is bad enough to make the vehicle "pulsate" should also set a code and illuminate the "Service Engine Soon" light. Do you have access to a code reader? You could introduce a code by disconnecting the 02 sensor and making sure it sets the right code. Even a transmission issue should be setting a code. Probably need to go back to the basics - make sure all plugs and filters are new, that fluids look healthy, that compression is good on all cylinders, that voltage to battery and control units is all good. Sorry, with such little information it is hard to say. |

Re: HELP 99 Intrigue Pulsating
If the vehicle is overheating, the engine will run on 3 cylinders to protect it. It won't set a code. Perhaps it is being fooled into thinking it is overheating. Is it?

Re: HELP 99 Intrigue Pulsating
It could be the transmission going into high pressure mode, making the shifts really hard and forceful. Supprisingly several of the transmission codes are powertrain codes, but class "B" and class "C" and they don't trip the light.
I'm fighting P1811 right now on the 2000 Intrigue, this doesn't light the check engine light, but it does force the transmission into protection mode, making it jerk really bad. You may have to have it scanned.
