96 Accord with VTEC vs. CRX SI 91 who will win?
Sup,
My bro has a 91 CRX SI, 1.6 or 1.5 liter, cant rem which, 4cyl and 5spd tranny, bone stock and he just bought a 96' Accord EX with a VTEC 4cyl engine, dunno the exact dissplacement maybe 2.2?, and automatic tranny, also stock, he swears up and down that the Accord is so much faster. He wont let us take them both out to race em, so we prolly wont know for sure. What do you guys think? The CRX is known for its lightweight and speed, and the Accord is known for being heavy and not so fast (stock) engines... Just curious... Thanks, Exempt |

1991 CRX Si -- 108hp 100torque 2174weight
Estimated QM time...16.8sec 1996 Accord EX (Coupe) -- 145hp 147torque 2965weight Estimated QM time...16.9sec I put these numbers into a cool little calculator on Derek's Exotic Cars. I'm not all that sure how accurate it is because it doesn't factor in torque, or drag coeficient, or loss within drive train but I think it pretty much answers your question. He's full of shit. No offence intended. |

if it doesnt factor in torque than its not really acurate at all. torque is a big factor. granted the accord is much heavier but its got more torque to pull that weight. i think the accord would win

pretty cool link. it would be MUCH more accurate if u could factor in torque, but for the most part it'd give a time SOMEwhat close. i say it'll all be driver...(which it will be) if they are EXACTLY even, then...the accord will have the edge.

it all depends on the driver. i have the 125 hp f22a1 accord and my brother has a 92 integra. off the line the accord will smoke the tegs ass till around 40 mph but after that the teg is taking over. both of them are autos

I knew that the CRX was light, but i didn't know that it was that light!!! My money is on the CRX, mainly because it is ~800 pounds lighter and it is a 5 spd vs/ an auto.
