Work in Progress- Hasegawa 1966 Buick Wildcat
Well, this one is going to be finished pretty soon (and sold to a happy home on eBay to finance her brethren) She's a 1966 Buick Wildcat by Hasegawa with a iridescent nail polish paint job and wheels swiped out of an AMT/Ertl 1961 Ford Ranchero Street Machine. Hope you like it at this point.
So, what do you think? She still needs wet sanding, bare metal foil, and probably a gloss coat, not to mention her chrome bits and glass... but what's here is pretty much what's here.

How did u mix the nail polish to spray it? i assume u are using an airbrush? What kind of thinner did u use, and how much of it? thanks! |

Looking good! Does it have any engine details? Can't wait to see it finished!

Thinner question: I used Klean-Strip brand lacquer thinner from the local Lowe's Home Improvement. It's about a 50/50 mix of polish and thinner and it took about half a Model Master jar's worth. And yes, I use an old Paasche double-action airbrush.
Engine detail: Nope, though I considered cutting open the hood and transplanting the Nailhead out of an AMT 1966 Buick Riviera, but that would've meant also transplanting a chassis that didn't have every detail molded into it under the body (in this case probably a Revell 1965 Impala) and that would've meant that the interior bucket would have to have been changed.... Long story short, for what I wanted to do it works better curbside. And thanks for all the positives so far. ^_^

Looks awesome so far!! I had the '66 bonneville from Hasegawa. I wish I could find the "66 Caddy from them also. How much do you usually sell them for?

The car is going up on an eBay auction. It's really buildup specific, but we've gotten as high as $30 for recent kits.

Hey again. Thought you might like to see the Wildcat wearing a mile of clearcoat and half a sheet of bare metal foil. (NOT KIDDING!!!)
As you can see, the clear really kicks up the nail polish's effect. It's almost a shame that this one is going on sale when she's finished on Sunday? Right?
