Catalyst Efficiency code on an 05 1500.

Replaced the Bank 2 o2 sensor 1 as pertained to a code I had a while back, now I have a catalyst efficiency code coming on. Have to double check that I did not have a bad o2 replacement but what does this code mean? Replace catalyst? Thanks in advance!

Cat is warrantied for 8 yrs or 80,000 miles. You didn't say what eng you have; but there is a TSB for this problem with the 5.7 eng.

It is the 5.7 but I am at 82,000. What is the TSB on it? Would that extend the Warranty possibly?

This info is available through your local library.
http://search.ebscohost.com/login.as...ile=autorefctr The ARRC is not the most complete but you can get TSB"s some wiring diagrams and some basic repair info. TSB # 18 -016-07

Well that is sure interesting and I am betting that is my problem. Thanks.

One last question on this. Being it is TSB, is this warranty? I am over 81,000 miles so over on that part but they did know there was a problem. I have no problem replacing the o2 sensor as I can get one for about $35.00 but would like the computer to be re-set to give me the correct codes on this in the future.

TSB does not necessarily mean it is warranty. You would have to talk to the dealer on that. I don't know what brand O2 sensor you are pricing but on engine sensors I would stick with factory parts. I found it online for $33.70. At times aftermarket parts can cause more problems because you installed a new part only to have the same problem occur; then the tail chasing starts.

Re: Catalyst Efficiency code on an 05 1500.

Bought a scanner tool to check for codes and re-set the computer, 650 miles later still no Mil so might have corrected itself. If it comes on will replace both the lower o2 sensors and be done with it

I went with aftermarket on the one I changed and will do the same for the others as was told to do this from my mechanic buddy. Says they are better than OEM and has never steered me in the wrong direction.
