Automatic Transmission Problems?

I have a 99 gtp. While sitting at traffic light, went to accelerate and engine just revved. Would not move forward or in reverse. Changed gears, no results. Turned car off for 5-10 seconds, restarted car, put into drive only moved a few yards before car lose gear. Have to keep turning car off for transmission to work.

Welcome to AF.

How many miles do you have? When was the last tranny service?

To me it sounds sort of like a sticking shift solonoid. Is it possible for you to get it to a shop with a trans scanner? I'd be willing to bet there is a DTC stored.
