Spun bearing
Can someone describe to me the symptoms of a spun bearing?
I dont know much about it...and im trying to diagnose what might be the problem with my car. Can your engine run each day with this condition? because even those my engine rattles like crazy, it DOES still run each day just the same and still does fine... theres no doubt some compression issues bc i can feel the power being robbed under boost compared to what it used to be like...

Do a compression test if you concerned about it. What do you mean rattling? Could it just be a fuel or spark issue?

no no the enigne is like, clanking around at different rpms and throttle positions...like depending on how i drive it, itll clank and rattle...my baby is in bad shape...=(
as soon as i have some extra money im going to buy a compression tester...

Check your oil, a spun bearing will leave metal in your oil. Also you can drive the car with a spun bearing for only a little while. After running a some it will create a lot of heat and throw the rod.

Does it sound like it's coming from the top end or bottom? Listen to it and rev to get that sound. Listen from underneath by the oil pan. Is it from the tranny?
Is it leaking any oil, like out by the trans or by the timing belt?

no oil leak, except the oil filter is a little oily on the outside, but thats from hitting it on a pothole a while back, it doesnt actually LEAK persay, not enough for the oil level to go down b4 the next change.
it sounds more like the bottom end...definately... it just rattles like a bolt in a pepsi can at the beginnning of 1st gear usually is when it happens...like starting off...and also sometimes when i release the gas under mild/heavy accelration, itll do it when i let off the throttle...like theres a mixture off sound between the bov blowing and the engine knocking... i wont know of coarse until jan. or so what the problem is, but id like to try and figure out what it is so that i might learn more about it...
