Stereo problem

Not your usual mechanical issue I see here but I thought I would throw it out in case anyone had a similar problem. A friends factory 6 CD is having an issue...it will not load any CDs. There are no error messages. I pulled the unit out and nothing is stuck inside and nothing seems broken or jammed. Seems when it is supposed to load, a small metal door is supposed to slide up inside the facing to allow the CD in. It does not do this. Anyone have any experience like this, or know of a site that might deal with CD problems.

From what I ave gleaned from searching the web, these GM 6 CD changers are finicky at best, and when they go, it is best just to replace with an aftermarket.
Thanks for any comments.

I don't know anything about these, but having only 6 CDs at your disposal in the age of iPods is criminal.
