used bcm 98 caravan
anyone know if i match #'s on bcm 98 caravan will it work without setting alarm off?i have factory anti theft but not the smart key type did they make two types of anti theft in 1998 i heard that if you install bcm from car with smart key to car with out smart key it will trigger alarm mode and shut down the powertrain module that i am trying to avoid i do not care about the mileage that will be in the new (Used) bcm it is a work van that i will junk when done with #on my bcm 04801062ad also read somewhere that the ad part of number refers to the firmware that is in the bcm it also has a date of june 03 on it so it must have been updated at one time. maybe they disabled the smart key function then the reason i know it is not smart key is they key would not turn one day at work. and I had to due bypass surgery on the ign to make it home been using screwdriver scince then to start any help thanks

Re: used bcm 98 caravan
Chrysler's BCM's are only programed once with the vin burned in and they are done. You cannot get the programed and the only option is to get a new one and it has to be programed with the DRB III.

![]() The only way I think there would be a problem is if the donor vehicle had the alarm "armed" when it was junked. Also fyi, the replacement unit I got had the same part number but the last digit was an "E" instead of a "D", so you might be right about the firmware revision. |
