You've seen Civic DXs with Type R badges, right?
Same thing, unless the Olds was bought from DeLorean Cadillac (an actual dealer in the East - no relation) & what you were seeing was the dealer badging.

FE-3 was the name of a GM suspension option in the 80's and early 90's. You'll find FE-3 badges on a few different GM cars from that era.
The Delorean badge must have either been put on by the owner, or as DMC says, it was the dealer badging.
