Papaya F1 in Bahrain - New Pictures

Hello,

This F1 showed up at the Bahrain International Circuit this weekend. I believe it's owned by the Crown Prince.

60 Pictures here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...d6&id=14901410

Enjoy

Pity to see another GTR as an LM lookalike

Yeap, this subject is quite...hmmm dificult, at least for me.
It's an orginal GTR, which has converted a street legal car. It's very rare and very wanted. But should cars like these be on the public trafic? Doing 40mph at trafic? Or do they belong only to the race tracks where it has been desinged.
How about the painting, should they have kept the car and orginal race livery to respect the history or do the LM copy whit orange painting...........

Dificult questions and I don't know what to say, if I'm totaly honest now. Every one wants a car like this is, but is it right to do?

Everytime when I have red this forum and find out another street converted GTR; I wish that the cars history will be respected. The car deserves it!

Re: Papaya F1 in Bahrain - New Pictures

I know from talking to 3 GTR owners that the car is not as much a nightmare on the road as would be imagined, I did quite a bit of research into this as I was and still hope to aquire one of these beasts, even Mclaren say that they were surprised how usable a road converted GTR is.
Apparently the same can not be said of the 1997 longtail versions.
As for the painting, if you buy one you are entitled to paint it how you like, true my preference would be to return it to either its original racing colours or its final racing colours, its very much a matter of personal choice.

Ok nice new information at least to me. Thanks!
So the car is very well desinged, if the converted GTR on the road is good to drive everyday traffic actions.
Not suprised about the longtail, it's quite much diferent everyway than the 95-96 GTR.

And now I try explain some of my oppinnion about this:

Of course cars like these; example 96' model only 10 manifactured; it's very wanted but very expensive to get and to own. And it really isn't many people who can own this kind of car. So having it on the road, defenitely means attention by other people and the car is really something else than new Ferrari or Lamborghini. So I really understand desire to convert GTR's on the road. Specialitely when we remember that the LM version is actually meant on the road use, and almoust all these converted GTR's are LM' look like versions. Only 6 has been made the LM's so there is no other option than convert the GTR today, if you want "LM" on to your carage.

Fortunately people who can buy this car, know what they own. They rispect it, like the Harold yelow-green and one of the Gulf or the Lark road converted versions shows. That is the relief thing at least for me. Knowing the cars will be treat well and loving hads.

You're right about the painting, it's own choise, would you respect the racing history and let car carring the race paintings on the roads or do you repaint that the color what you really want.
I don't know what happens the cars marketing value, if you example paint the car metallic green or gray; do it drop it becouse it's not an original shape anymore?

What oppinions people here have this one?!

And my self If I should I convert GTR or not?

Well quite contradictory feeling about this. On the other hand; I think it then I would had something really special, something really different on the carrage. Something what no one else supercar can't be.
BUT, I don't know would I have courage to "spoil" the orginal GTR on the Finnish roads? I just don't know is it right thing to do.

And some people will not understand it, the car is desinged to race tracks, not the roads. And when the really small manifacture quantity...
I think that I respect the car so much, that I just do not have courage to buy it even if I had a chance to buy it.
The most preferably I want the car ending up the person, who can use this car right and knows what he is doing. Can maintain it a quarantee safe place, not just some carage at some yard midle of nowhere......

HOH dificult question this one!
