Coventry Motors Executor USRRC Cobra AMT
Hello!
Started this one a few weeks ago and though hobby time is in short supply as of late, I did manage to squirrel away a few hours at the bench (amoung other places) and get some work done on this road-racing beasty. The kit is pretty plain, though well detailed and there are a few things I wanted to correct. The motor on this kit just looks too thin when compared to the real 289 I have sitting in the garage so I glued both sides to plastic and then filed down the assembly. That gave it the girth it needed. I am using the valve covers out of the AMT Mustang as they are a bit thicker than the kits and have to scratch an intake as the kits looks anemic. Other work performed: built side pipes with flanges built headers rear fender flares cut out and thinned the doors to scale thinned the trunk and hood to scale sanded the back of the grill to open it up cut apart the rear differential and added half shafts created a generator mount used watch parts and photo-etch for the front of the generator adapted a more correct front cover for motor modified the oil pan created a fuel tank added behind-the-grill extensions to the fender skirts thinned down the springs to a more scale appearance cut the pulleys off the belt assembly, trued them up and grooved them I ordered the decals for the Executor from Pattos place and they look great! Also ordered a couple of parts from Historic Racing Miniatures for it as well. I'll be using the wheels out of the AMT Parts Pack though the rear ones need to be deepend a bit. Enough blabbing, on with the pics... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The rear fender flares are a bit too wide in the picture but have been reduced since the pic was taken. Everything is fitting together pretty well so far, though getting the headers to clear the footwells was quite a task. I still need to attach the flanges for the webers to the intake as well as make the water/fuel connector for the front but it is moving along. So far, this has been a fun build and I am learning quite a bit. Thanks for looking! |
