98 mercury mystique
i changed my transmission in my 98 mystique and i test drove it fine and then the next morning it started having a few problems like it wont come out of PARK and turn indicator's wont work back up lights wont come on when i over rid it out of park and the heater blower wont work and i checked all of the fuses and relays and of them are good and now i am stumped

As far as your blower motor, check your resistor in the heater ducting under the passenger side dash. Should be a four wire connector. Your back-up lights get their power from the selector switch on the transmission. Check the connectors to insure that they are clean and free of debri and no wires have come loose or broken. I'm afraid as far as the turn signals go I have'nt a clue short of doing voltage test from the combination switch out.
Since you just replaced the tranny re-check all wiring harnesses and grounds, if any were re-moved or unplugged. |

yeah the turn signals i dont know like the flashers work thats what bugs me i will check the wires under the dash no wires that i know of have come lose or broke but i will look over again do u know why it might not want to engage out of park?

On the Mystique I am not sure how the system to release the shift lever works. You do have to step on the brake in order to shift the lever into gear ? If so there should be a switch to release the locking safety pin. I will see if I can find a schematic on this.

yeah you do have to put the break on and in my Haynes book and owner man. tells u how to override so i did thats how i know my back up light dont work

If you have a manual see if there is a wiring diagram on the lock-out switch for the shift lever. Also how did you check the back-up lights ?

i did a a shift override i had to put a screwdriver in a square opening and turn then it would free up the shifter but still had to press the break that is how i checked the back up lights
