Thermostat???
I have a 1991 S10, and the temp. gage is pegging higher and higher. I suspect the thermostat. Is it any harder then "the old" ones to replace...or through out? I live in california, and have always left them out when I had a temp problem.
Any "need to know" info. before I pull it....throw it... and reseal the fittings? tym Shawn |

dont just throw it away , get a new one , its less then 5$ for a new therm and gasket , and you want to have it in there , so the engine actually reaches operating temperature, youll also save gas by leaving it inn , cuz when the computer thinks its cold , it gives it more gas , but other then that , it could also be your radiator plugged up , or could be a fan clutch thats just not workin as good anymore , coudl even be the fins in the water pump eatin away. theres more the one part to the cooling system

Re: Thermostat???
Similar problem, as I have replaced the thermostat, and the radiator cap. The radiator has been flushed, and the water pump said to be working fine, according the the attendant.
I find when it gets above 60 degrees outside, the temperature go above 210 while on the highway for any length of time. (My drive 1s 50 miles to work) So, I see someone suggested the fan clutch may need replaced. How would you know by looking, and do you need to remove the belt to replace it. 1991 s-10 2.8L v-6 no a/c standard transmission |

Re: Thermostat???
mine usually runs at 200-210, always steady, fresh coolant+water pump, and still same.(water pump blew through the weephole).
