After being a long term lurker ive finally decided to take the plunge and get back into modelling, so here is the result of the last four weeks work on and off. It is the tamiya kit made 100% oob. Any comments for improvements very much appreciated including on the shady photography ;-)

Re: Alfa Romeo GTV
Really nice!
It's almost perfect, but i would use flat or semigloss in the interior... and maybe smaller flakes in the paint, but otherwise, she's gorgeous, absolutely! great weathering on the chassis and great gloss, nice! and welcome! |

Re: Alfa Romeo GTV
Welcome to AF! (A bit late
![]() Terrific build. It looks spot on, especially the underside. You've certainly learned something from somewhere- be it lurking here or from your prior modeling experience. There really looks to be very little to criticize. The best bit of advice I think I could offer is that a photography lens brush- ![]() -can nicely take care of the dust on the body as you're photographing it. You might also try using flat colors for the interior. Even freshly oiled leather has a rather matte finish to it. I'm sure we'll look forward to seeing more of your work.

Re: Alfa Romeo GTV
Thanks alot for all your comments ..... I'll have to nip down to the local photo shop to pick up a lens brush..... good idea ;-)
As for the paint flakes... the paint i used was zero paint base coat with their ready mixed clear over.... I cant believe how easy it was to spray and use.... I did think the flakes look fairly accurate on the model but i guess that the camera/ lighting does make them look a little bigger i guess ;-) In hindsight the gloss red does make the interior look a little 'tarts boudoir' ;-) but i know for next time ;-) Overall though this forum has been a big help.... for guides and how to's and has saved me a lot of bother ;-) Onwards & upwards ! P.S. Big thanks to Steve @ Hiroboy (if he sees this) for the help with the getting the right colour/ paint codes. |

Re: Alfa Romeo GTV
I like it, clean building, good colour combination, wheels look realistic.
Some years ago I build this Alfa, too http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=370757

Re: Alfa Romeo GTV
Very nice sport racer ;-)
I can see how big a difference the matt look interior would make.... good job its not all glued tightly together as ive got the urge to redo the interior now ;-) |

![]() Don't worry much about the 'out of scale metal flake' issue. It turns out to be impossible (or near enough to be impractical) to make paint with in scale flakes. Grinding the flakes another order of magnitude smaller would make the paint behave and appear significantly different. And generally if large flakes are visible, it's much more an artifact of the photography than of the paint.

Re: Alfa Romeo GTV
Very nice and clean build, looks hot in silver. The interior color is a very good choice, suits the car well, also the washes on the rims add a nice touch
![]() Welcome to the forum anyway, are you from Hungary?

Re: Alfa Romeo GTV
Great looking build!
![]() I particularly like the weathering that you did on the undercarriage. It gives it the look of a realistic and driven car! |
