Tragedy

At the moment, the police are still awaiting formal identification but at 4:10pm today, a helicopter of the same type owned by Colin McRae crashed near his home. The 4 people on board all died at the scene.

The Times website has already published tomorrow's story where it is confirmed that Colin McRae and his son were two of the four.

bbc news.

times.

I really have no words that can convey the shock and sadness that I am feeling about this.
You will be missed.

Re: Tragedy

Terrible, shocking news. Even more so if indeed McRae's five year old son is also involved.
I was thinking there was a chance he would to return to WRC with Suzuki next year.

Colin McRae

Im sure many of you have heard the news this morning that Colin McRae and his 3 year old son have been killed in a helicopter crash in Lanark close to the McRae's home in Scotland.

I know many of us have built lots of McRae's WRC cars and Im sure we are all extremely sad to hear this news. Thoughts must go to the McRae family. Very, very sad and tragic news.

Re: Colin McRae

We've already mentioned this in the Rally forum.
It is terrible news, It was only a year or so ago we lost Richard Burns and now Colin. Terribly Sad.

Re: Colin McRae

A truly great loss. One of the rally greats. He gave me many a happy hour watching him both live at the 1993 Network Q rally of Great Britain and also on the countless rally videos and dvd's I have.I also built a fair share of his cars in model form over the years and still have some to build.A very sad day for motorsport fans everywhere.Condolences to his family. If there is such a thing as rally heaven I hope he is up there exchanging fastest stage times with Richard Burns in the Welsh forests.R.I.P Colin and Richard.

Re: Colin McRae

WHAAaaaAAAaaattt ????

Nooo I didn't hear that yet !! oh noooo...

one more rally legend we will miss a lot.

Don't know what to say, it's like if those legends were immortal, I can't realize such news...

Bye Colin, thanks for all the passion you put in each of us !

I now only hope there would be some great in memoriam vids to find here and there to celebrate your talent.

Here is my modest contribution to pay homage to the champion, the picture that describes you the most I would say... Spectacular !!

Re: Colin McRae

Please also don't forget that on the 18th of September 2005, we also lost Michael Park when Markko Martin crashed in Wales.
Michael Park had, before teaming up with Markko Martin, co-driven for both Richard Burns and Colin McRae.

Amazing guys.

Re: Colin McRae

Stunned and shocked, and greatly saddened. What a terrific loss.

It was great fun last year when he and Nicky stepped in for Loeb- at least we all got a last chance to see him drive.

Just yesterday morning I was at a hobby shop that's been slowly clearing off it's 'nice' car kits. I was chuffed to find one of the very last Tamiya kits they had was the '01 Focus WRC, cheap! I snapped it up, as I've been looking for it for a while.

I was thinking briefly- Hmm, McRae or Sainz?

Colin it will be....
