Help! 98 GC Electrical Problem
Yesterday while on the highway the whole electrical system shut off then turned back on in literally two seconds. I did not notice any change in the engine's performance in that short time.
My wife had the same issue once about 6 months ago. Now, today, it won't start. It's turning over, the battery isn't dead by a longshot, but it just won't start. The interior lights do not turn on, nor any of the dashboard displays. When you leave the key in the ignition between attempts to start it, there is a faint, weird electrical sound you can barely make out. Any ideas as to what it could be? |

Re: Help! 98 GC Electrical Problem
Check your ground wires. They can vibrate loose, and cause weird problems. Maybe disconnect your battery terminals and give them a good cleaning too.

Re: Help! 98 GC Electrical Problem
Thanks! I think you've got it. I nudged one of the ground wires, and everything went back on. Now, I hate to sound like a dummy, but what exactly should I do with the ground wires? I've disconnected and reconnected batteries before, but I've never touched ground wires. You're help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Help! 98 GC Electrical Problem
Just give the ends a good cleaning with a wire brush. Also I clean the area on the body where they bolt to really good. That's all I really do. When you bolt them back up, make sure the bolts are good and tight, but don't strip out the holes.
