transmission leak
i have a 97 windstar 3.8. i just got it a week ago fpr 700 bucks have done some minor work on it, tune up fluid changes, had to replace the compressor for the a/c to work. now it started leaking trans fluid very badly. it is coming from the middle of the trans between the fron wheels, my friend said it was the seal in the middle and there is a pump in there too, and that the pump probably needs to be chcnged as well. does that sound right?

Re: transmission leak
My '98 3.8L is also seeping tranny fluids between the engine and the tranny. But it's not bad enough to for drops of liquid, yet.

Re: transmission leak
it turned out to be the front pump seal. I thought i would takle it myself, well not myself but with a friend that actualy knows something about cars. WOW, i'm waist deep into it now. takin the trans out is ALOT of work would deffinatly reccomend you pay the money to get it done if you need trans work. way more problems and trouble then it's worth savin a few bucks. if i could go back i would have saved up for a couple weeks and paid to have it done. luckily i have another car to drive in the meantime, but still wish i woulda took it to a shop now i'm to far gone to turn back

Re: transmission leak
Did the shop flush the tranny with a power flush machine? Those things are know to blow out the front seal.
