Chevrolet COT

I have been watching my old Jeff Gordon Monte-Carlo for a while and I have been thinking of how I can make it into a COT and.. Today I started the project..

So far I have:

* Removed the decals
* Sanded the body
* Started cutting in the roof

I still need to rework the roof and the whole front of the car and hopefully it will come out finished looking almost like a COT

Re: Chevrolet COT

Great start!
With all the bodies being the same you would think all the kit companies would jump on making these.

Here is a link to some COT images.

Re: Chevrolet COT

From what I had heard or read, Revell had originally planned to do the COT and bypass the Charger and Fusion bodystyles but with the Hobbico takeover, a lot of their ideas are now being rethought or retimetabled.

Re: Chevrolet COT

UPDATE !!!!!!!!!!

"Naa I´m just kidding with ya !" :thumb

I have worked a little on the front and on the roof yesterday and today so.. here´s the progress

Well after raising the roof I noticed that.. the difference between the body and the new height of the roof is quite big.. and puttying it would take ages to form and make it look right.. So I did som NASCAR science and hey.. it´s got a new roofline

You can see it in the photos.. the big difference in the C-pillar :roll:

I also cut away the B-pillar since it would look better and will be easier fitting a scratchbuilt one..

I have also reworked the front to make it more like the Impala SS and there is still ALOT to do and I hope that I´m not boring.. :o

I also finished up cleaning the chassis.. so when the body is done I will start scratching a brand new roll-bar so if you have ref. pics please post them 8) Thanks !

I will let the pictures to the rest of the speaking and sorry for the blurry pics. I´m taking the pictures with my cellphone. :roll:

Re: Chevrolet COT

I've been looking for actual specifications and dimensions for the COT but I haven't found any yet. Sort of like the mysterious NA$CAR rule book.......

I did hear one thing during the last race was that the front spoiler and rear defuser were at the same level. So no more "spin to win" moves. I don't know if this will help you at all but maybe it will help you establish an equal ground level.

Noo not really.. This is the only NASCAR model I have.. I can´t find another one wherever I look.. I built this one like a year ago and I did it bad.. so I though that "hey.. what if.. I made it into a COT that is even better than the state it was in before"

It was a choice between building it into a COT or converting it into a short-oval racer which has a much lower front and a wider front left fender which I think looks SO cool.. So the choice was pretty hard.. but.. as you can see the choice has been done

Ooh, you should do it in an action pose, one of the wheels in the air like at Sears Point! I don't watch NASCAR anymore, but I watched a bit of that and it was so cool seeing the cars bob and weave around like that.
