drilled rotors, worth it?
i need to replace my brakes and i was wondering if getting drilled rotors is worth it and if it even does anything as far as quicker bracking or adding brake pad life? i've also read that the slotted rotors eat up pads. and arent necassary unless your racing

Re: drilled rotors, worth it?
I really wouldnt bother. Yes they do accelerate pad wear. They basically are intended to sweep away hot brake gasses created under duress. Your car will stop the same way it stops from the factory except your braking distance will be greatly improved due to the brake rotors. thats just my
on the matter. everyone has there own opinon on if they are worth it or not. |

Re: drilled rotors, worth it?
Not worth it at all. I would replace the rotors with some solid brembos. Think of it this way, the more surface area you have the better! You'll never need slotted or drilled rotors on a street car unless you are going for a cool cosmedic look in my opinion.

Re: drilled rotors, worth it?
I have the BAER DECELA cross drilled and slotted rotors with HAWK HPS pads.. If i ever burn through this set, i will be getting the same setup again. They bite like crazy and don't slow the car down, but actually STOP it.

Re: drilled rotors, worth it?
Haha thats gotta be good for the frame... anyway, somewhere i heard that if you are using them for daily driver, but still want better performance, than you want only slotted rotors. I think he said the drills wore down the pads quicker or something, anyone know what im talking about?

Re: drilled rotors, worth it?
i think you got it backwards Mrroboto, i read that the slotted rotors are used for racing to scrape the pads so they dont get glazed over. and the drilled holes let the gases dissapate easily. so drilled rotors are better for everyday driving

Re: drilled rotors, worth it?
I'm using Powerslot rotors with carbon metallic pads, and I love them. I got them mostly for cosmetic since my rims are so open, and they are great on not creating a lot of brake dust.
