my Z31 the black
here are some pics of my Z31 turbo and a list of the upgrades. don't know how much HP i'll get, but will tell after i dyno. if anybody can estimate please tell.
just a pic before the upgrades oohhh..NO intercooler there ![]() ahaaaaa here is the intercooler. from Turbonetics 7.8"H X 20"W ![]() i just bought pipes from Ebay and bingo.. they look good to me. 2.5" ![]() at Jer Development, I see lin's head installing the S-AFC " passenger side ![]() upgrades list: APEXi Boost controller APEXi Air Fuel Controller, S-AFC II APEXi Turbo Timer HKS Turbo timer harness HKS BOV HKS Exhaust system 2.5" but will be changed. hopefully Saturday AUG 6th JWT ECU upgrade JWT drop resestors 420 injectors from Mercedes 255 fuel pump Cobra MAF Turbonetics Intercooler T3/T4 Turbocharger 60 mm 240 SX throttle body Fujita 3.5" inlet performance air filter custom intercooler pipes Stage III clutch upgrade Dual Electric fans SPAL my plan was to get about 350 whp. i won't mind more i'm going to bob's muffler in L.A august 6th for the exhaust upgrade. I got a 3" inlet N1 APEXi turbo muffler and will do the 3" mandrel pipes there. then tuning and dyno after that. Looking also for KOYO radiator fits my car. still looking for the right size. |

Estimating HP is like shooting a bug blindfolded.
BTW You have an ugly hood. Besides that nice car. I hope you will get to the 350 number. It would be sweet. Just do one thing for us and replace the hood for OEM. |

depending on what you want to do with your radiator you could always go with an AFCO vertical radiator... or the euro-spec z31 rad provides better cooling as well.
you'll want to do something about that super restrictive upper intake plenum as well... you'd be AMAZED at what power gains you can achieve i agree on the hood.. absolutely FUGLY... cowls are not ment for z31's... the only reason i think you could EVER justify running a cowl like that is if you had a nasty supercharger under there... and even then you've got more serious issues... please un-defile that beautiful AE. anyway good luck hitting your goal... you should have much trouble depending on the specs of the turbo... there are a lot of different t3/t4 combinations out there...

thank you for your reply guys... about the hood i know that the hood does not look good as the OEM.. i still have the original one, but it's hard to run 2.5" intercooler pipes under the OEM + the 240SX throttle body has top lines and they were touching the hood, but with this one it's clear, BTW it's much lighter. AFCO?!!! i'll chech it out

yeah it looks like this installed:
![]() just a heads up... the 240sx throttle body does absolutely NOTHING at all for performance... the only reason to pu one is if you have the modified plenum which, again, i stress that it is definitely a performance mod you want to do!! if you want details i'm just finishing up another one right now....

Yup...ditch the hood, man...just my
.Now that you've got an intercooler, get a bigger turbo man. That's the easiest way to get more power out of the SOHC VG. I wouldn't bother with cams, wouldn't worry about your exhaust manifolds, would consider a good port and polish of the heads which is pretty involved but could be well worth it if it's don't right. High flow intake, open up the intake plenum and do some good head work and you'll be gooder as long as you have a decent 3" mandrel exhaust system on it. That'll make it easy to get the air in and out...then you can work on boost. You have a great set up so far. GET A BIGGER TURBO, MAN!!! You have the means to monitor your AF ratio, you have an intercooler...you're set, man. Slap a "real turbo" on there and you'll be screamin...

he does have the t3/t4 on there... depending on what size of wheels and housings are on there he could be good for quite a bit of power if he so desired

yeah, t3/t4 turbo's are good turbo's depending on the trim n wheel, they can lay down big numbers, not huge but big

the car runs good, but the intercooler pipes i made are really sux, they keep disconnecting from the silicons.. i'll let JER do the pipes for me
...the turbo has 57 trim .63 H |
